Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the highly successful sequel to it's predecessor. Released in 1992 for the Sega Genesis, it is known as one of the best Sonic games of all time. Sonic and his new sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower, must stop Dr. Robotnik from launching his latest creation, the Death Egg.
Level Select
On the options menu, play tunes 19, 65, 09, and 17. Then press A + Start on the title screen. A sound test is also included. Through level select, several other secrets can be accessed.
Debug Mode
On the level select's sound test, play tunes 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, and 04. A ring sound should trigger. Select a zone, then hold A until Sonic appears. Controls:
- B Toggles normal and debug mode.
- A Advances forward through the debug object list.
- A + C Advances backward through the debug object list.
- C Places the selected object on the current coordinates.
Additional controls, during pause:
- A Restarts game.
- Press and hold B Enables slow-motion.
- C Advances one frame.
Super Sonic
On the level select's sound test, play tunes 04, 01, 02, and 06. An emerald sound should trigger. Select a zone, and hold A until Sonic appears.
Super Sonic + Debug Mode
On the level select's sound test, play tunes 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, and 04. A ring sound should trigger after the 04, and an emerald sound should trigger after the 06. Select a zone, then hold A until Sonic appears.
Tails to Miles
At the title screen, press ↑, ↓, ↓, ↓, ↑.This will change Tails' name on the game HUD to Miles.
14 Continues
On the options menu, play tunes 01, 01, 02, 04. An incorrect sound command is issued, causing the Oil Ocean Zone music to play until a reset.
